While we found that Indigenous and non-Indigenous students held similar occupational aspirations, Indigenous students were much less likely to aspire to attend university. Most starkly, high-achieving Indigenous students were significantly less likely to aspire to university than their high-achieving non-Indigenous peers. Given this evidence, we argue that both the possibility and desirability of higher education must be addressed if the widening participation agenda is to meet equity targets for Indigenous students.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:19:19 AEST ]]> Re/cognising the discursive fr/Ames of equity and widening participation in higher education https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42457 Tue 23 Aug 2022 11:50:22 AEST ]]> Increasing regional student participation in higher education through innovative university outreach https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39392 Tue 07 Jun 2022 19:50:02 AEST ]]> Aspiration pneumonitis in an overdose population: frequency, predictors, and outcomes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1489 24 hrs [odds ratio, 4.42; 95% confidence interval, 2.42-8.10]). The mortality for patients with aspiration pneumonitis was 8.5% compared with 0.4% for those without (odds ratio, 23; 95% confidence interval, 9-60; p < .0001), and they had a significantly higher intensive care unit admission rate. The median length of stay of patients with aspiration pneumonitis was 126 hrs (interquartile range, 62-210 hrs) compared with 14.7 hrs (interquartile range, 7-23 hrs) in patients without (p < .0001). Conclusions: Our study has shown a number of risk factors in overdose patients that are associated with aspiration pneumonitis that may allow the early identification of these patients for appropriate observation and management. Patients with aspiration pneumonitis have a significantly increased mortality and length of stay in the hospital.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:28:05 AEDT ]]> Excavating widening participation policy in Australian higher education: subject positions, representational effects, emotion https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20564 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:02:36 AEDT ]]> Reframing first-generation entry: how the familial habitus shapes aspirations for higher education among prospective first-generation students https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38780 Mon 31 Jan 2022 12:57:30 AEDT ]]> On ‘being first’: reconsidering Australian higher education equity policy through a comprehensive analysis of the aspirations of prospective first-in-family students https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:32728 Mon 23 Sep 2019 13:18:55 AEST ]]> Speech pathology: reflux aspiration and lung diseases https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35144 Fri 21 Jun 2019 14:09:59 AEST ]]> Association between external and internal lymphedema and chronic dysphagia following head and neck cancer treatment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38251 P <.004 and P =.006, respectively), diet modification (P <.001 both), and poorer patient-reported outcomes (P =.037 and P =.014, respectively).
